 Nicotinamide mononucleotide, also known as β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), is a synthetic substrate for Coenzyme I, and NMN is also used in anti-aging research. Studies have shown that β-NMN can also regulate the secretion and affect the expression level of mRNA. β-NMN has a wide application prospect in the field of medical treatment. β-nicotinamide mononucleotide is a product of extracellular nicotinamide phosphoribosyl transferase (eNAMPT) reactions and a key NAD+ intermediate. It improves glucose tolerance by restoring NAD+ levels in HFD-induced T2D mice. It also enhances liver sensitivity and restores gene expression associated with oxidative stress, inflammatory response, and circadian rhythms, in part through SIRT1 activation.

In mammals, β-nicotinamide mononucleotides are generated by Nicotinamide (Nam) catalyzed by Nampt (a protease in vivo), followed by NAD+ catalyzed by nicotinamide mononucleotide adenosyltransferase. Nicotinamide mononucleotide is a direct way to supplement NAD+. Niacinamide mononucleotides can reverse aging by significantly improving the repair ability of DNA damage in cells.
Nicotinamide mononucleotides are converted into "nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)" which is essential for energy metabolism in the body. In mouse experiments, niacinamide mononucleotides have been shown to activate a gene called acetylase in the body, which can play a role in prolonging life and treating diabetes.
