Sodium butyrate (NaB) is the sodium salt of n-butyric acid, the molecular formula is CH3CH2CH2COONa, the relative molecular mass is 110.09, the spontaneous combustion temperature is 425.0ºC, and the melting point is 250.0~253.0ºC. Generally white to white, it is a hygroscopic powder, like fluff, with a special cheese rack-like odor, easily soluble in water, aqueous pH is alkaline, stable to light and heat.
