Psoralen has the function of warming kidney and helping Yang, absorbing qi and preventing diarrhea. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat impotence, spermatospermia, enuresis, frequency of urination, cold pain of waist and knee, asthmatic deficiency of kidney and Wugeng diarrhea. Modern pharmacological studies have found that psoralen also has multiple pharmacological activities, such as: anti-tumor, treatment of osteoporosis, estrogen-like effect, antibacterial and treatment of vitiligo. Psoralen, also known as psoralen lactone, spot-making hormone, is an effective ingredient extracted from plant psoralen, belonging to furanocoumarins. It has the effect of promoting the increase of skin melanin, and is clinically used in the treatment of vitiligo, alopecia areata and psoriasis.
