L-glutamine is widely found in nature, for example, in its free state in the seedlings of pumpkins and sunflowers, and its n-ethyl compound (theanine) is found in tea. Although glutamine can be extracted from natural products, it is produced in large quantities by fermentation and synthesis. 1. The synthesis method is obtained from L-glutamate-5-methyl ester ([1499-55-4]) through condensation, addition, salting and hydrolysis. Glutamic acid is esterified with methanol in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid, and the resulting esterification droplets are added to the mixture of methanol and carbon disulfide, while the droplets are added and ammonia is cooled.
